Judging by the looks of our web page; It may seem like not much is going on, BUT, there's more than meets the eye!
We are excited that the Sawyer water filters some of you helped us purchase have made it safely to the slums in Kenya, thanks be to God and to His servant Glenn Roseberry, for being the hands and feet that got them from the USA to the slums!!
"How does a person get cholera?
A person can get cholera by drinking water or eating food contaminated with cholera bacteria. In an epidemic, the source of the contamination is usually the feces of an infected person that contaminates water or food. The disease can spread rapidly in areas with inadequate treatment of sewage and drinking water."
"Approximately 1 in 10 people who get sick with cholera will develop severe symptoms such as watery diarrhea, vomiting, and leg cramps. In these people, rapid loss of body fluids leads to dehydration and shock. Without treatment, death can occur within hours." ~Quotes from CDC website
From what I understand, the public water in these slums gets contaminated by the sewers at times.
The great thing about these filters is they can last 10+ years if properly maintained and remove:
Bacteria, Protozoa, Cysts, and Microplastics! One filter can also filter 170 Gallons a day!!! These filters will make a huge impact where we will be distributing them!
Stay tuned for further exciting updates on clean water filter distribution in the slums of Kenya, Africa!!
Go TEAM TBOW!
Here are some videos Mr. Roseberry took of the slums. We will be having our faithful helper Eunice (who Mr. Roseberry is with in the video) distributing the filters in the slums with her team of local TBOW Volunteers.
